SUMMARY
TOKKO http://tokko.co.uk is a large scale independent and not–for–profit youth centre in Luton, England. It is a member of the My Space network of youth centres. TOKKO works across communities in Luton, which is one of the UK’s most ethnically diverse cities (over 50% non–white population). The centre supports young people aged 13–19 (up to 24 with disabilities) across the town and locally to advance in life, feel safe and bring a reality to their imaginative ideas. There is a strong emphasis on participation and empowerment of young people, as well as engaging youth in social action projects. Most recently, during the COVID crisis, there has been a focus on environmental and nature projects as a way of reaching across communities and across generations. This will be the theme of our Youth Exchange.
The aims of the project are:
- To give a first international experience to young people with fewer opportunities
- To enable participants to appreciate different cultures and diversity in general
- To enhance physical and mental health
- To explore environmental action as a means of youth and community cohesion.
Young people who take part in the project will get:
- Increased self–confidence and self–belief
- New basic and soft (transversal) skills useful for employment
- Broadened horizons and new ways of thinking
- Motivation to become more active citizens
- New international friendships
Activities will provisionally include: Welcome meeting and icebreakers; Fun team building games; Outdoor education and forest art; Local community eco–challenge; Digital storytelling and film making exercise; Workshops on understanding identity, diversity, community and lifestyles; Intercultural evenings; local visits led by TOKKO young people; London excursion; Daily Youthpass review sessions. Everything will be done with non–formal education methods, working in multicultural teams and with a lot of interaction.

Travel will be reimbursed according to the EU Distance Calculator rates: €275 Estonia, Finland, Italy; €180 Netherlands; €0 UK.

Hea teada! Noortevahetusi viiakse läbi Euroopa Liidu programmi „Erasmus+” raames. Tänu sellele on majutus ja toitlustus kõikidele osavõtjatele tasuta, samuti makstakse osaliselt kinni reisikulud. Täpne summa sõltub konkreetsest projektist. Reisipiletid tuleb osalejal endal välja osta, kuid pärast koolituse toimumist tagastatakse piletite raha.
