Main objective

The main objective is to learn how to facilitate a group and to acquire the necessary skills and competencies for becoming leaders in international work camps. This course is designed for future leaders of international work camps focusing on group life.

The participants will

  • Experiment collective life and collective management in daily life
  • Discover popular/non-formal education methods
  • Develop your leadership skills
  • Acquire group facilitation methods (collective decisions, group dynamic…)
  • Spread awareness about interculturality, environmental issues and gender-related issues on workcamps and Youth in Action projects
  • Develop the understanding about role and responsibilities of a youth leader

Methodology

The methodology (non-formal education) and the structure of the training will encourage an active involvement of each participant to develop competencies and new tools for personal, social and professional development. Moreover, the training is based on active methods that draw on the trainees’ knowledge, their ability, self-management skills, involvement and participation. Working in small groups, role-playing followed by debriefing, exchanges of knowledge and experience, theater, and daily reflection are all part of this training. Day-to-day life during the course provides an opportunity to experiment with the collective organization on a site and life in a group. We also propose that every participant to organize and lead some activities to experiment with the role of a leader and analyze it.
