About a project “Count Me In!”
PROJECT OBJECTIVE: This project aims to actively involve volunteers in managing intercultural activities on both national and international levels. Through this experience, volunteers will gain a deeper understanding of voluntary service and intercultural learning within an international context. They will also be exposed to the behind-the-scenes work of preparing, organizing, and evaluating related actions. Volunteers will contribute to the international volunteering and youth mobility sector by supporting workcamp activities and managing non-formal education projects.
More specifically, the project seeks to:
- Promote intercultural learning and mutual understanding
- Promote peace and related values
- Combat all forms of discrimination, including those based on culture, language, religion, country of origin, gender, economic status, or physical characteristics
- Encourage interaction and exchange among young people from different countries and backgrounds
TYPE OF WORK: The two ESC volunteers will assist the association’s staff in promoting and organizing the workcamp season. Each year, Lunaria engages around 500 Italian volunteers in international workcamps abroad, while also hosting approximately 250 international volunteers across 25 workcamps organized in Italy. These projects, which last 2-3 weeks, bring together dozens of volunteers from around the world to work on projects of general interest, such as restoring local heritage or historical monuments, cleaning and developing natural areas, and providing socio-cultural activities in urban areas.
