Join Depaul’s European Solidarity Corps (ESC) programme to make a meaningful impact on homelessness in Dublin, Ireland.
Placement Details:
- Location: Dublin, Ireland
- Duration: 12 months, starting ~September 13, 2025
- Activities: Support frontline services and engage with people experiencing homelessness through social activities like arts & crafts, life skills workshops, and outings.
- Support Provided: Accommodation, pocket money, insurance, mentoring, supervision.
About Depaul: Depaul is a charity dedicated to ending homelessness, providing accommodation and services to help vulnerable people achieve independence. Our ESC programme offers a chance to work with a values-driven organization focused on innovation and action.
Requirements:
- Commitment to a 12-month project
- Empathy, patience, and flexibility
- Basic understanding of homelessness issues
- Good English communication skills
Living Arrangements:
- Single room in a shared volunteer house near Dublin city centre
- €100 weekly pocket money
- 25 days annual leave + Irish Bank Holidays
Host Projects:
- Sundial House: Long-term accommodation for 30 vulnerable men, women, and couples with complex needs, including alcohol issues and rough sleeping history. Offers harm reduction, health support, and activities like life skills, gardening, and creative projects.
- Orchid House: Temporary accommodation for 23 men, women, and couples with entrenched alcohol issues and complex needs. Provides harm reduction, independent living skills, and activities like arts & crafts, cookery, and community outings.
- Back Lane: 60-bed all-male hostel offering temporary and long-term accommodation for men with complex needs, including mental health and substance issues. Features life skills, gardening, social activities, and a community befriending programme.
- Peter’s Place: Temporary accommodation for 35 young adults (18-25) focused on personal growth, education, and employment. Supports life skills, occupational activities, and community engagement for those with high potential to move out of homelessness.
- Little Britain Street: Emergency short-term hostel for 82 service users, including pet owners, with complex needs. Offers harm reduction, resettlement support, and activities like breakfast clubs, arts & crafts, and movie nights.
- Tus Nua: Specialized accommodation for women leaving prison, supporting up to 15 with reintegration, addiction support, and independent living skills. Activities include cookery, gardening, and social events.
- Rendu Apartments: 19 self-contained apartments for women and children, focusing on independent living skills, parenting, and resettlement. Activities include creative play, beauty evenings, outings, and life skills like cooking.
