THE PROJECT

During 10 days, the group will share the daily life with people from different nationality, in the farm, in the hamlet of the mountain.

In this context, we propose to experience our bodies as a social, artistic, politic and poetic tool. With clown and dance workshops, meditations, contact improvisation, time in the nature and somatic practices, we will take time to experiment collective body adventure.

We will reflect on how collective body work has an impact on our relations, how it transforms our experience and our way of caring to each other with non formal education activities

You will get involved in the creation of body workshops.

At the end of the exchange, guided by the facilitators, you will propose a restitution in the way you will decide as a group (a performance, some workshops, an event organized on the thematic you choose), developing a collective decision process, critical reflexions, cocreated actions, engaged initiatives and active citizenship.

DAILY LIFE

Participants will be accommodated in bedrooms of 3 to 6 people and will have at their disposal all the facilities of the hosting centre (dining room, kitchen, showers and toilets).

For the duration of the exchange the group will live autonomously. The daily tasks (meals, cleaning etc) are shared by all volunteers. The youth exchange will be led by a facilitator, the permanent staff, and with the help of the group leaders.

You will organise your free time and leisure activities according to the expectations of the group, in terms of budget, time and leisure activities available. As a result, you will plan and carry out leisure activities together in the area around the project location. It is up to each of you to play an active role in the life of the camp in a way that is comfortable for you and for the group as a whole.

THE VENUE

In the heart of the Hautes Alpes, the association Les Villages des Jeunes has been managing, livening up and renovating the reception center of Vaunières since 1964.

It is an old mountain hamlet, now a ‘springboard’ place for youth and adults experiencing family, health or professional difficulties, and who need to take some time to recharge, acquire new skills and reflect on their plans.

Vaunières is also a place where families, tourists and people with disabilities come on holiday to enjoy the calm of the mountains and the dynamics of the aera.

The workcamps that we organise at Vaunières with volunteers from all over the world allow us to strengthen the cultural diversity of our activities and to make this site open to the world, a place where people of all ages and all social and cultural backgrounds agree to meet by working together and sharing collective life.

We hope that you too, a volunteer from France or abroad, will come in this spirit of meeting and working together which brings our project to life!

ENROLLMENT

Participants should be aged 18 to 30. There is no age limit for group leaders. The group will be composed of 25 persons from 5 different nationality. Each group is composed of 4 participants and 1 leader.

No specific skills are required to take part in this project, just a strong motivation and curiosity to experience a multicultural collective life, body art, walking in the mountain. Participants having experience in this field and willing to share their knowledge are welcome!

Bring your music instruments and songs with you if you have some.

Please note that other groups will live with you on the place at the same time: volunteers, teenagers, permanents, workers… The language used during the exchange will depend on the group and the capacities of each volunteer, but English and French are the common languages on these projects.
