About us – WHAT DO WE DO?
Jugendwerk der AWO Württemberg (JW) is a nonprofit Organization located in Stuttgart, Germany with the focus on nonformal education, intercultural projects, youth camps and projects for children and young people.
OUR GOAL
The main goal is to assist young individuals in developing personal, educational, and social skills beyond academic settings to enhance their competencies.
OUR VALUES
The aim of JW is to improve tolerance, solidarity, self-determination and democracy in our society.
OUR MAIN ACTIVITIES
The main activities of JW include seminars in non-formal education, youth travel, international youth work (exchanges and ESC), and coordinating local projects for children and young people aged 7 to 30, with a focus on 18 to 27-year-olds.
Your tasks – WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Your tasks as a volunteer in Jugendwerk will be…
- to organize the intercultural learning project “Active Culture” (check out what Active Culture is here)
- to lead our project “Spracheteria” – an intercultural meeting with focus on language exchange. Check the event out here
- To participate in seminars on the weekends, in order to be able to lead camps in the summer and winter holidays.
- to take part in organizing and supporting seminars: you will be responsible for the materials & stuff for the seminars.
- To support the Jugendwerk Team in various office daily tasks and camp activities such as answering emails, driving, shopping, organizing events, cooking, and tidying up.
- You will be in charge of some Instagram and Facebook accounts creating posters/flyers/banners, updating our homepage etc.
- To create and realize own projects: Depending on your interests and abilities you will have the opportunity to develop a project. New ideas are always welcome!

LEARN, WORK, GROW – What we offer you
By volunteering with us, you can take charge of planning, implementing, and evaluating projects independently. This hands-on experience allows you to enhance essential skills like teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and
accountability within a vibrant and driven team setting.
You will also get the chance to try out each field of work in Jugendwerk: PR & Fundraising, financials & administration, education & pedagogic, seminars, international projects & local projects – depending on your skills and interests.
Last but not least, you will get personal supervision (mentor) and work-related support by coordinator and training to enable full integration into the project and into the local community
CRITERIA – You are our perfect volunteer, if you. . .
- … are between 18 and 30 years old
- …you have language skills in English and/or German;
- … are open-minded, reliable, like to show your own initiative and are flexible
- … are interested in intercultural work and are motivated for intercultural projects
- … like office work, like writing emails, creating flyers for events, helping with sending letters and like being responsible for materials and stuff for seminars and camps etc.
- … have basic computer knowledge and experience with social media
- … have a driver’s license for cars and are comfortable driving regularly
- … are available for the whole duration of the project for 12 months from 14.10.2024 – 13.10.2025
