Youth Seminar | June 18–26, 2025 | Cagliari, Sardinia

EstYES invites young activists, artists, and volunteers to take part in an 8-day in-person youth seminar that explores the intersection of art, activism, and resilience. Hosted by SCI Austria with the support of the Erasmus+ programme, this seminar will bring together participants from diverse backgrounds to engage in discussions, creative expression, and collective action.

Why this seminar?

We live in challenging times, where political and social crises often lead to frustration, disconnection, and a sense of powerlessness. Art has long been a tool for resistance, activism, and resilience—allowing communities to process emotions, amplify voices, and reclaim public spaces. This seminar aims to explore how artistic expression can serve as a means of social transformation and empowerment.

Together, we will exchange knowledge and experiences, reflect on the power of art in political struggles, and collaborate on a collective artwork—a mural that will remain as a dialogue between the participants and the local community.

What will you experience?

  • Exploring political art and its role in resistance movements throughout history.

  • Understanding resilience as both a personal and collective process through creative expression.

  • Challenging traditional ideas of art and discovering its role in activism and social change.

  • Engaging in hands-on artistic workshops, from painting and collage to street art and mixed media.

  • Connecting with local cultural and activist spaces to understand how public art can reclaim narratives.

  • Collaborating on a final creative project, contributing to the seminar’s legacy in the host community.

This seminar is open to everyone, regardless of artistic background—no prior experience in art is required, just an openness to explore, express, and co-create.

Who can participate?

We are looking for participants who:

  • Are 18 years or older.

  • Are interested in activism and its connection to artistic spaces.

  • Want to explore creative methods of expression and political engagement.

  • Can fully commit to the entire seminar.

  • Have a working knowledge of English, as the seminar will be conducted in English.

We strongly encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities. There will be an opportunity to share any inclusion needs before the seminar, and the team will provide support where possible.

Practical Information

  • Accommodation and meals will be fully covered for all participants.

  • Travel costs will be reimbursed according to Erasmus+ guidelines (participants are encouraged to use sustainable travel options).

  • The seminar will take place in a shared accommodation setting near Cagliari, with communal living arrangements and simple but comfortable facilities.

A Brave Space for Dialogue

Throughout the seminar, we will engage in discussions on social crises, inequality, and political transformation. We recognize that participants come from different backgrounds and social positions, which means that perspectives may vary. Instead of a traditional “safe space,” we will work within the framework of a Brave Space, where we acknowledge discomfort as part of the learning process, engage in critical reflection, and hold space for mutual accountability and growth.
