Elephant Conservation Workcamp in Indonesia

Join the Elephant Conservation Workcamp in Way Kambas National Park, Lampung, Sumatra, and contribute to the protection and well-being of endangered elephants. This project, organized in collaboration with the Balai Taman Nasional Way Kambas (BTNWK), focuses on elephant conservation, human-wildlife conflict resolution, and habitat preservation.

Why is This Project Important?

With increasing human expansion, elephants are losing their natural habitat, leading to conflicts with local farmers. This workcamp aims to support conservation efforts, improve elephant welfare, and educate communities on sustainable coexistence.

What Will Volunteers Do?

  • Daily Elephant Care – Assist local mahouts in feeding, bathing, and monitoring elephants’ health.
  • Habitat Conservation – Help with maintenance work in the conservation area.
    Learning & Awareness – Gain insights into wildlife conservation challenges, the role of mahouts, and the importance of preserving elephants in Indonesia.

Accommodation: Dormitory-style housing at the Elephant Conservation Center or homestay in a nearby village (basic conditions, sleeping bag & mat needed).
Meals: Provided by catering service.
Location: Way Kambas National Park, Lampung Province, Sumatra.
Participation Fee: 460 – 490 EUR (covers food, accommodation, materials, and local transport).

  • Strict rules apply – no alcohol, drugs, or violations of local customs.
  • Volunteers must sign an agreement to follow all project regulations.
