Counter NATO! Workcamp – Support the Peace Movement in The Hague
As NATO prepares for its annual summit in The Hague, a coalition of peace organizations, along with the No-to-NATO network, will organize a Counter-NATO Summit and Demonstration on June 21-22. This event aims to promote peace, demilitarization, and alternatives to NATO’s strategies. VIA-NL is supporting the summit by hosting a logistical support camp for international volunteers.
Volunteer Activities
- Prepare banners and creative action materials
- Assist with logistics, including venue setup, cooking, and flyer distribution
- Support publicity efforts, including writing international press releases
- Participate in creative actions
- Act as venue guardians, monitoring event halls
- Assist with meals, the information desk, and general logistics
- Support demonstration safety, including stage setup, stewarding, and dismantling
Learning and Study Themes
- New security approaches and NATO’s global strategies
- Arms trade and demilitarization
- The role of art in peace movements, including creative writing, music, and dance
- SCI’s role in global peace activism
Important Notes
While volunteers will primarily handle logistical tasks before the NATO summit, there is a small chance of police repression. Legal aid will be ensured if needed.
This workcamp offers an opportunity to support the peace movement, engage in creative activism, and contribute to a global discussion on security and disarmament.
