Introduction
Lääne-Harju Kultuuri ja Noortekeskus is a public youth center located in the north-western part of Estonia. The organisation coordinates the work of seven youth rooms based in different small towns. Local young people aged 7-26 are welcome to join wide range of leisure activities organised by the permanent staff or initiate their own projects. The volunteers will be assisting a team of youth workers in daily activities of the centers in various locations giving a chance to see many places including beatiful nature and meet people around Lääne-Harju county. The youth worker provide task related support and guidance to the volunteers by always work with them. Developing ideas and taking initiative is encouraged and fostered. The core values of Lääne-Harju Kultuuri ja Noortekeskus are inclusion, cultural diversity and promotion of non-formal education. Lääne-Harju Kultuuri ja Noortekeskus is open to host inernational volunteers who would become part of their community.
Location
Lääne-Harju Kultuuri ja Noortekeskus coordinates the work of seven youth rooms based in different small towns: Paldiski, Rummu, Padise, Klooga, Vasalemma, Laulasmaa and Ämari. The volunteers will visit different locations in every week and help with daily activities of the center. The volunteers will be housed in a shared flat in a small town in Keila which is located near Tallinn. There is a good bus and train connection between villages in the area as well as with the capital.
Work tasks
The typical working hours are 13 – 20.00. The volunteer will mostly work with youngsters aged 7-15. Every youth center is a bit different but the ones in the villages have between 3 – 12 children at one time, the one in the town has more. The volunteer will always work with our youth workers. The volunteer is expected to help our youth workers with daily activities, such as communicating with youngsters, playing board games, arranging movie nights, doing art and craft workshops, planning outings, etc. Taking own initiative is encouraged and if the volunteer wishes to organise own events for the young people such as cultural evenings, cooking classes, sports games, hikes then that is very welocomed. There is always support available from the tutor as well as from our team of youth workers.
The main activities:
- assisting youth workers plan and host various events and activities;
- developing, coordinating and promoting leisure activities for young people;
- creating possibilities for youth initiavies, free self-expression and creativity;
- empowering young people to participate in work camps thus developing working culture and promoting employability;
- promote youth activities and Erasmus+ programme.

Lääne-Harju Kultuuri ja Noortekeskus employs a team of committed and professional youth workers who are willing to support the personal development of the volunteers during their stay with whatever is necessary. It is possible to provide emotional support, coaching and help with adjusting and designing the ESC experience.
The volunteers will be part of ESC training cycle organised by Estonian National agency focusing on personal development and intercultural learning.
