Hello everyone, my name is Artem. I am from Russia, from the city of Irkutsk. I take part in a volunteer project in Estonia Viljandi city. My project is related to helping people with disabilities. My first month in Estonia was just great, I met a huge number of new and interesting people and got to know a little about the culture and life of a provincial Estonian city. In general, there are not so many differences, the main differences are infrastructure and cleanness on the streets.
Let’s get back to my project in more detail. At first, of course, it was unusual for me to be surrounded by people with disabilities, since before that I had not had such an experience, but after literally a week I was already used to this environment and to these people. My work is to help the clients. Together we draw, sing, I also take people to classes in the city center by car and take them back. My Russian driver’s license came in handy. Also, together we celebrate all kinds of holidays and birthdays. Together we have already celebrated Mardipäev and Kadripäev days and are already preparing for the New Years. We have already decorated our houses.
Let’s go back to everyday life and life in Estonia. As I said earlier, I live in the city of Viljandi, a fairly small and quiet city, there is almost everything you need for life. I live in an apartment with other volunteers, namely a girl from Italy, a girl from Germany and a boy from Germany, with whom I work together, but very soon he is going back home as his project has come to an end and this is very sad because in the future it will be boring to work alone. It is already December and it is snowing in Estonia and it is quite cool, but for me this is familiar since I am from Siberia. My project ends in July, let’s see what happens next. I will share my news and emotions with you in the future.
