Volunteer in Greece This Summer: Make an Impact with Children & Youth
Looking for a meaningful summer adventure in Greece? Join one of these two incredible SCI workcamps focused on supporting children and youth while exploring the culture and community life of Greece. Whether you’re helping kids at a mountain camp or contributing to an alternative school in Athens, both projects offer unique chances to grow, connect, and serve.
Camp 1: Happy Children – Happy Youth (Kataskinosi Xaroumena Paidia)
- Pateras Mountain, near Eleusis (40 km from Athens)
- Dates: 6 – 27 July 2025
- Motivation letter required
- Incoming fee: 50€ (for SCI partner/country applicants)
- More info and apply here
What you’ll do:
You’ll support a non-profit summer camp that hosts 140 children from disadvantaged backgrounds, by helping in the kitchen with meal preparation and cleaning. Tasks include preparing desserts, setting the tables, washing dishes (machines provided), and maintaining the space. While cooking is handled by professionals, volunteers are the backbone of the kitchen’s smooth running.
Why join?
- Get immersed in the behind-the-scenes work of a long-standing volunteer-run children’s camp
- Learn about non-profit organization, camp logistics, and community care
- Disconnect from technology and reconnect with people — there’s no internet at the site
- Enjoy potential free-day trips to Athens or Eleusis
Accommodation:
Volunteers will live in shared tents (8-10 people) provided by the organizers. Just bring your sleeping bag and a good spirit!
