Geomun Island Workcamp: Art, Culture & Community in South Korea

Join the Geomun Island Workcamp and experience the beauty of this remote yet historically significant island while contributing to its community. Located 1.5 hours by ferry from Yeosu, Geomun Island is home to around 300 residents and boasts stunning coastal views, rich cultural heritage, and a peaceful atmosphere.

What Will Volunteers Do?

  • Creative Environmental Art – Work with professional artists to create artwork using marine debris, household waste, and natural materials, helping to promote environmental awareness.
  • Cultural Exchange – Share food, games, art, photography, and traditional clothing with local elementary and middle school students to foster mutual learning.
  • Explore & Experience Island Life – Enjoy Geomun’s pristine beaches, ocean views, and cultural traditions while living alongside locals.

Accommodation: Shared guest house rooms (4-5 people per room), air conditioning, bedding, and shower facilities provided.
Food: Meals are provided; participants cook together.

Additional Information

  • The workcamp is coordinated by International Workcamp Organization (IWO), which ensures smooth project execution with trained camp leaders.
  • Participants should bring travel insurance and be flexible with program changes.
  • Volunteers will spend one night in Yeosu before heading to Geomun Island.
