Sea Turtle Conservation Workcamp in Mexico

Join the Sea Turtle Conservation Workcamp in Rincón de Guayabitos, Nayarit, and contribute to the protection of these incredible marine creatures. Organized by Vive Mexico, this project has been running successfully since 2014, working alongside biologists to safeguard sea turtle populations.

What Will Volunteers Do?

  • Night Patrols – Search for adult turtles and safely collect their eggs.
  • Egg Protection – Transfer eggs to a secure area called Vivero to prevent predation.
  • Hatchling Release – Guide baby turtles safely into the ocean.
  • Beach Monitoring – Patrol nesting areas and ensure a safe environment for turtles.
  • Habitat Restoration – Help with maintenance and reconstruction of turtle camps.
  • Possible Work with Crocodiles – In January and February, if turtle activity is low.

Accommodation: Shared rooms with another volunteer.
Meals: Provided, including vegetarian options.
Location: Rincón de Guayabitos, Nayarit, on the Pacific Coast.
Participation Fee: 435 EUR (covers food, lodging, materials, and local transport).

Special Requirements

  • English is the main language, but Spanish is appreciated.
  • Volunteers should be open-minded and respectful of local culture.
  • Families can participate, but the camp is not open for disabled volunteers.
