About SEEDS Iceland

Founded in 2005, SEEDS Iceland is a non-governmental, non-profit organization focused on promoting environmental protection, cultural exchange, and peace through voluntary work. SEEDS provides volunteers with opportunities to engage in ecological research, conservation projects, and cultural activities while experiencing Iceland’s stunning nature. With projects designed to benefit both volunteers and local communities, SEEDS collaborates with municipalities, cultural organizations, and environmental groups across Iceland. Each year, SEEDS welcomes over 1,000 international volunteers from more than 40 countries, making a real impact through hands-on activities.

Volunteer Activities

Camps in Iceland 2025

SEEDS is organizing 80+ projects across Iceland in 2025, covering diverse themes such as environmental conservation, photography, cultural heritage, and festival support. Below are some of the exciting camps for 2025:

  • Environment & Photography (10 days in April, May, June, July, August or September)
  • Environmental, Awareness & Action (10 days in June, July, August or September)
  • Awareness, Engagement & Action (10 days in April, May, June, July, August or September)

Camps vary in focus, including nature conservation, sustainable tourism, and cultural exchange. Some projects require no previous experience, making them accessible for all!

Practical Information

  • Participation Fees: Fees vary depending on the camp and help sustain SEEDS’ operations, covering accommodation, food, transportation, and project logistics.
  • Insurance: Volunteers must obtain travel and health insurance before arriving in Iceland.
  • Travel & Arrival: Volunteers should arrive in Iceland at least one day before their camp starts. SEEDS arranges transportation from Reykjavík to remote project locations.
  • Accommodation: Volunteers will be provided with accommodation and meals during the project.
  • Languages: English is the primary language used in camps, so no Icelandic skills are required.
