Middle-Long Term Volunteer Program (MLTV) 2025–2026

Volunteer in Thailand for 1–12 months and create real impact in local communities.

Program Overview

The MLTV program is a cultural and community exchange experience where volunteers work on meaningful long-term projects, ranging from education and environmental restoration to healthcare and media content creation. Volunteers support local communities while building personal and professional skills.

Program Windows
  • Start of Year Intake:

    • Arrival: 5 January 2026

    • Project Start: 6 January 2026

  • Mid-Year Intake:

    • Arrival: 1 July 2026

    • Project Start: 2 July 2026

Most projects also accept volunteers at the start of every month.

 

Volunteer Requirements
  • Age 18+ (some projects require 20+)
  • Basic English for communication
  • Open-minded, adaptable and respectful of Thai culture
  • Willing to live simply and integrate with local communities

 

Project Preparation & Monitoring
  • 5-day orientation on arrival (team-building, Thai culture, language, and project prep)
  • Mid-term evaluation (in-person or online)
  • Final feedback & creative reporting encouraged (photos, videos, storytelling)

 

Living Conditions
  • Accommodation with host families or in school housing
  • Meals provided or self-prepared with ingredients from hosts
  • Internet available in all projects & public areas
  • Thai SIM card provided during orientation

 

Participation Fee
  • 20,000 THB/month (~510–540€ depending on exchange rate)

    • Admin & support
  • Paid via Wise.com to Volunteer Spirit Association
  • VSA is a nonprofit – the fee supports sustainable volunteering

Locations: Northern, Northeastern, Central & Southern Thailand

  • Teaching in rural schools (Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen)
  • Environmental work in national parks (Chiang Mai Forest Restoration Unit)
  • Health care & rescue assistance (Songkhla)
  • Creative roles like media content creation & museum work
  • Folklore preservation, youth development, and more!

 

Visa
  • Apply for a Non-Immigrant Type O visa (Charity Work)
  • Initial 90 days, extendable
  • All visa documents provided by VSA
