Advocacy Workshop “See Beyond 2” in Brussels

Are you passionate about international volunteering, global solidarity, diversity, and decolonisation? Do you want to develop your advocacy skills and help make young people’s voices heard?

ICYE invites active young people to take part in this Advocacy Workshop, designed to provide knowledge, skills, and confidence to advocate for social change and create a joint youth advocacy agenda.

What’s it about?

This five-day workshop focuses on:

  • advocacy strategies and policymaking

  • youth engagement and active participation

  • promoting diversity, inclusion, and decolonisation

  • meeting with representatives of the European Parliament and European Commission

Additionally, participants will:

  • take part in an online preparatory session in June

  • lead two advocacy actions following the workshop

Workshop Outline (Highlights)

Day 1: Team building, overview of previous advocacy work, analysing EU priorities
Day 2: Social media and visual storytelling workshops, exploring what advocacy means
Day 3: Developing advocacy plans, mapping stakeholders, preparing meetings
Day 4: Meetings with members of the European Parliament and/or Commission, reflection
Day 5: Further meetings, conclusions, next steps

Who Can Apply?

We’re looking for young people who are:

  • aged between 18 and 30

  • interested in advocacy and youth engagement

  • committed to promoting diversity, inclusion, and decolonisation

  • enthusiastic about long-term involvement in ICYE or similar networks

  • able to communicate in English

  • based in a Council of Europe member state (except for YEC members)

Eligible participants include:

  • ICYE Youth Engagement Committee (YEC) members

  • CCIVS Youth Committee members

  • young people actively involved in advocacy

  • representatives from ICYE or other IVS organisations (board members, youth committee members, staff, coworkers, etc.)

Departure: 19 July 2025
Location: Generation Europe Youth Hostel, Rue de l’Eléphant 4, 1080 Brussels
Accommodation will be in shared rooms of 4–5 people, with en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast is served from 07:00–09:00, and all meals are provided by the project.

Travel Reimbursement: up to €275, based on distance

Participants are kindly asked to bring a small food item from their home country or region to share during coffee breaks.
