Introduction

For over 15 years, EstYES, in collaboration with the Lukas Basket sports club, has been organizing activity camps for young people in the scenic village of Nõva, located in North-West Estonia. These camps bring together around 150 participants each year, offering an exciting mix of sports, outdoor activities, and community service.

Before the camp season begins, there is a lot of preparation needed to create a welcoming and well-maintained environment. This is where our European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers come in! From May 15 to May 30, we seek to gather a team of 12 volunteers who will contribute their energy and skills to prepare the camp area, support the local community, and help with environmental conservation.

In addition to preparing the camp facilities, volunteers will engage in meaningful activities, such as assisting elderly residents, cleaning public spaces, and planting trees in collaboration with the local forestry department. This project is a fantastic opportunity to experience teamwork, contribute to a local initiative, and enjoy the beautiful Estonian nature.

Location

Nõva is a small and picturesque municipality in Läänemaa, Estonia, with a population of around 400 residents. Situated 90 km west of Tallinn and 40 km north of Haapsalu, a well-known spa town rich in history and culture, Nõva offers a peaceful seaside setting surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.

The ESC volunteer camp takes place on the grounds of Nõva Primary School (Nõva Põhikool), which serves as the central hub for activities. The school’s spacious territory includes various sports facilities, wooden huts for accommodation, and easy access to the beautiful coastline. The area is ideal for outdoor activities, featuring hiking trails, sandy beaches, and nearby lakes, making it a perfect place to connect with nature while contributing to the local community.
