Role: Journalism volunteer
SEEDS is accepting one applicant from Estonia in January 2021 under the ESC program.
SEEDS is an Icelandic non-governmental, non-profit-organisation with international scope. Our main field of activities are related to the promotion of volunteering and intercultural understanding through work on nature oriented, outdoor and environmental issues. Rohkem infot www.seeds.is.
Teenistus
The project starts on the 13th of January 2021 and is for 8 months. The volunteer will be based in Reykjavík.
The responsibilities and role of the Journalism volunteer are:
● Act as a reporter within SEEDS activities (interview volunteers, record experiences and testimonials, take
pictures and videos)
● Visit SEEDS camps in Reykjavík and write short news about the activities
● Keep track of free events in Reykjavík and share with the other volunteers
● Help developing a SEEDS e-magazine
● Creative writing about different topics: environmental protection, intercultural understanding, culture and
art, world peace, volunteering in times of a global pandemic, or other.
● Cooperate with SEEDS radio project

Special remarks:
The volunteering work will take place at SEEDS office, with regular visits to SEEDS camps in the Reykjavik area.
The volunteer will work a maximum of 38 hours a week. Regular office hours are from 10h-17h. The volunteer might
work during the weekend and get days off during the usual working week, depending on the camps’ scheduled
activities. The volunteer is entitled to two days holiday per month of service at SEEDS.
Food shopping will be done according to SEEDS standard shopping list, ensuring that every volunteer has a balanced
diet The volunteer will stay in a shared flat (with max. four people per room) in Reykjavík. It will most likely be Miklabraut 40, located close to the center of Reykjavík. Volunteers are not allowed to host guests, friends or relatives in camps or at SEEDS houses. The SEEDS houses are for the use of SEEDS’ current volunteers, interns/trainees and staff.The volunteer will be supported by SEEDS volunteer coordinator and mentor. The main language used throughout the project is English. Basic introduction to the Icelandic language will be offered to the volunteers at the beginning of their stay. Volunteer must be 18-30 years old.
Smoking is not allowed in any of the SEEDS accommodations. The use of alcohol should be moderate and done with
consideration and only during free time. The use of any kind of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden.
SEEDS does not accept any kind of discrimination and such cases will be strictly dealt with. The volunteer must be
ready to work in a multicultural team, respecting everyone’s cultural background and beliefs.
