PLASTIC IS NOT FANTASTIC
PROJECT
More than 710 million tons of plastic waste have been dumped into the environment over the last 20 years. This waste takes centuries to degrade and its impact on the environment and the human health is extremely concerning.
The project “Plastic is not fantastic”, European youth exchange, has been designed to offer a concrete and united response to this alarming situation.
You will have the opportunity:
– to learn more on the consequences of the production
and use of plastic,
– to think about solutions to reduce plastic consumption,
– to carry out real actions, with young people from all over Europe: make a guide of eco-friendly practices, meet physically and carry out an operation to raise awareness about the overconsumption of plastic with the participants of your country.
The project will also be the occasion to meet online with young people of other nationalities and to overcome the barrier of screens by creating a friendly atmosphere to exchange through many games, activities and informal discussions.

Saturday 22/05/21 : 9:30 am – 2:30 pm online
Tuesday 25/05/21 : 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm online

Sunday 30/05/21 : 10:00 am – 12:00 am in your country depending on the sanitary situation and the geographic location of the other participants.
Tuesday 02/06/21 : 19:00 pm – 21:00 pm online
Saturday 05/06/21 : 9:30 am – 2:30 pm online
PARTICIPANTS
20 young people from 16 to 25 years old interested in the topic and available during the whole duration + 5 leaders (one from each country)

Sessions online with all participants :
Informal times in the evening with all participants where we will have intercultural exchanges :
A physical meeting between participants of the same nationality, in the respect of sanitary norms, to set up an action against the overconsumption of plastic :
Workshops online in small groups of participants from different nationalities in order to create the guide of eco-friendly practices :

→ Other time slots will be decided with the participants of your group
on the first day of the project according to your availabilities.
THE SCHEDULE INCLUDES VARIOUS TYPES OF ACTIVITIES:
FORMAT AND TOOLS
This project will be based on the principles of non-formal education, in order to encourage as much as possible the active participation of each participant. The interactive activities will promote learning through collective exchanges, within a friendly and caring atmosphere. Everything will be done so that
everyone can find their place in the group and gain self-confidence in the implementation of the project.
The diversity of activities and formats will make this exchange extremely rich and dynamic. With the debates, the games, the intervention of professionals, the workshops for the creation of the guide and
the physical meeting with the participants of your country, you won’t have time
to get bored!
An important place will also be given to the initiatives and desires of the participants. You can already think about the themes you would like to explore on the issue of plastics, the awareness-raising actions you would like to set up with the group, the format you would like for the guide…
Decisions will be taken collectively and everything will be done to make them happen!
The main digital tools that will be used are ZOOM and JAMBOARD.
You will receive tutorials to discover the tools before the beginning of the project.

The environmental initiatives that exist in the city or in the country where you live in,
Your daily actions to limit your use of plastic,
Measures to be implemented in favor of the environment at different levels.
In order to prepare this project, you can think on different subjects so that the
exchanges between the participants can be constructive.
