VENUE
In the heart of the French Alps, our association “Les Villages des Jeunes” has been managing,
livening up and renovating the Faï hosting center since 1990. This place is an old agricultural
domain located at an altitude of 1000 meters, whose buildings have been developed into
group accommodation. From April to December, we organize an inclusion project for local
people experiencing social and professional difficulties and we host young people experiencing
family, health or school difficulties. In summer, Faï is also an inspiring place for
professional artists who come to create together and perform in our yearly festivals. The
international youth workcamps and European exchanges that we organize in Faï contribute
to make this place «extra», where people of different ages, from different countries and
cultures, employees and volunteers, artists and tourists, live and work together for some
days or several months. We hope that you too, volunteer from France or from abroad, will
come in this spirit of meeting and «doing together » that drives our project!
MOUNTAIN WONDERS III
ActiVitiEs
The youth exchange is based on the development of the territory’s natural resources. For 3
weeks we will learn transformation techniques: we will harvest, transform, cook, make lavender
essential oil, visit processing workshops, and discover know-how from professionals.
We will acquire new skills, introduce ourselves to new professions and discover a different way
of working in relation to the natural and human environment. Together, we will cover various
topics such as seasonality, self-production issues and short circuits, and partnerships that
we can put in place to integrate properly in the territory. This initiative represents the opportunity
to invest locally in a process of pooling traditional knowledge, to bring an international
dimension, to disseminate the values of popular education and to arouse the curiosity and
wonder of visitors. At the end of the Youth Exchange, we will organize a «Wonderland market
» to present our productions and exchange with visitors on the links between resource
transformation, social transformation and «doing together.»
CONDITIONS
participants should be aged 18 to 30 and come from Estonia, Turkie, Belgium, Greece or France.
no specific skills are required, just be aware that the exchange will happen in English !
