1) CODE: MS01 – Festival, Music and Youth Week

LOCATION Maribo, Lolland, Denmark
ORGANISATION The main hosting organisation for this Work Camp is the Youth Council of Lolland municipality. The Council will be hosting the Work Camp together with The Golden Banana (organizing events for young people) and Lolland Music School. During the Work Camp, three events will take place, and you will get a chance to be a part of it all. The first event is the ‘Concert Week,’ which is arranged by the Music School of Lolland. They will arrange concerts with bands in different locations across the island. The second event is the Danish Youth Week. This is the first time Youth Week will take place and the goal is to show that young people living in rural areas like Lolland can make magic happen. The third event is the ‘Nærvær Festival.’ It is a one-day festival organized by young musicians on Lolland and takes place on May 7th 2022. WORK The festival and the majority of the activities will take place in Maribo, but during the stay, you will visit different parts of Lolland. For the concert week, you will be helping with logistics and promotion. You will attend the concerts and help with taking pictures, distributing t- shirts, carrying instruments and driving a bus (if you have an EU driver’s license). If you want, you can also be part of one of the choirs or bands during the concert week. Youth Week will host different events on Lolland during the week. There will be concerts, parties, game nights and others arranged by youth people, and you will assist with logistics, engagement of other youth and promotion. At the festival, you will be assisting with various tasks including setting up the festival, helping on the stage, promoting the festival in the streets, carrying instruments etc. on the festival day and the day before. Volunteers meet at 8 AM on May 7th. There will be work during the day, but also time to enjoy the concerts and the atmosphere.
Preliminary Schedule (can still change):
- April 30th: Arrival and meet the locals involved in the three activities.
- May 1st: Introduction to the activities during the week and getting to know the local area.
- May 2nd: Assisting the Lolland Music School for the concert week.
- May 3rd: Day off
- May 4th-6th: Assisting the Lolland Music School with Youth Week.
- Saturday, May 7th: Participation in ‘Nærvær Festival.’
- Sunday, May 8th: Packing and farewell.
Optional social activities with other young people during some of the days.
No specific skills are needed, but if you are interested in music and hanging out with other young people, you will definitely enjoy it. We would also very much like to know if you have some special skills so we can involve you as much as possible in activities you like and is good at. You might be a great video editor or good at singing.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Accommodation: The volunteers will be hosted at a hostel located in Maribo, the town where the majority of the activities will take place. If you do not wish to share rooms with the rest of the Work Camp volunteers of different genders, then it is a possibility to be hosted privately. The hostel is located within walking distance of all camp activities.
Food: At the hostel, there is a common room with kitchen facilities, where you can prepare your meals or just relax. The host will purchase your groceries. On the day of the Nærvær Festival, lunch and dinner are provided at the festival site. Bathroom Facilities: There will be bathroom and shower facilities at the hostel. You will have to bring linen and bed covers, and the hostel will provide the rest. It will be possible to wash your clothes at the hostel for a small charge.
LOCATION AND LEISURE Maribo is a small town in the centre of Lolland, known for its lakes, where you can go for walks or go kayaking. Currently, Lolland hosts the construction site of the Femern Belt Tunnel, which is a huge project worth visiting. It is also worth visiting the smaller islands on the coast of Lolland or some of the beautiful nature parks or historic towns. Your Work Camp coordinators or contact person will help you and the group with organising activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Lolland, but some activities might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS To participate in this Work Camp, we require you to provide:

In regards to COVID-19, it is our ambition to complete our Work Camps this summer, but it is essential for us that our volunteers feel safe during the time they spend at our camps. This is why we constantly keep ourselves updated on the situation and we follow the Danish government’s instructions. Furthermore, we are ready to answer any questions that you might have, and we will keep all our volunteers updated right up until the start of the Work Camp.
Your Work Camp host will have guidelines on how to handle COVID- 19 during your stay, including how to handle isolation and enforcement of government guidelines. For security reasons, we can unfortunately not have volunteers with hearing or sight disabilities. For other physical disabilities, it depends on whether the volunteer can do manual work for several hours since the work is about construction and is very physical.
English will be the only language spoken. All participants must be willing to speak English, even though being from the same country or have trouble with the English language. Try your best! We will advise you to bring warm clothes that are fit for outdoor work and might get dirty. Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather, so it is a good idea to bring rain clothes too.

2) MS05 – International Table Tennis Camp 2022

ORGANISATION B75 is a value-based table tennis club with professional trainers and players. The Work Camp will be a part of our annual International Table Tennis Summer Camp. 200 trainers and players from all over the world will gather for three weeks of learning, fun, making new friends and much more. In 2021, the participants came from 43 countries. The International Summer Camp has existed for 17 years. This is the fourth year they are hosting a Work Camp. The first three times have been a success and they are looking forward to this year.
WORK The different tasks can include assisting in the kitchen, with all practicalities except cooking, and serving the food to the other camp participants. Similar tasks can include helping with cleaning assistance or driving shuttle buses to and from the airport, train station, ferry terminals and practice halls. Other tasks can include overseeing activities with the camp participants and the smallest children, helping in the administration with check-in, check out and room preparations and making video reports for international live streaming, writing articles and taking photos for social media. It will also be possible to be a sparring partner in the Table Tennis Camp and interact with the camp participants. As a volunteer, your work week will consist of 5 working days and 2 days off, though these days will be rotating. You might have to work at the weekend, but then you will have time off during the week. Your workday will be no more than 7 hours, and you will be working with local volunteers. Work starts in the morning and the afternoon. Some tasks, like being a part of the video crew, mean you must work at different times during the day. There will be a rotation between the tasks to make the days vary for the volunteers. The camp is good for you, if you like to be in an international environment and can adapt to changes.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Accommodation: The volunteers will be sleeping in classrooms. There will be mattresses, pillows, and bedding. Please bring your own sleeping bag. Food: All Work Camp participants eat in the canteen with all the other participants. Both breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided by the Work Camp host. Bathroom facilities: The bathrooms are next to the classrooms where you will be sleeping. They have washing machines available, which are for free.
LOCATION AND LEISURE During your three weeks stay in Northern Jutland you will have time to explore some unique nature and attractions in Denmark. Your Work Camp leaders will help you and the group with organising activities in your spare time. It is free to enjoy the beautiful nature of Northern Jutland, but some activities might require an extra charge. The host will not cover additional charges. The Work Camp will be taking place very close to the beach, so there are good opportunities to go for a swim. You can arrange a day trip to Skagen, the most Northern tip of Denmark where two oceans meet. Skagen is famous for the special light which has attracted many painters, cosy yellow and red houses and much more. You can also visit Hjørring, a city less than 15 km from the sea and beautiful sandy beaches. You can also take a day trip to Aalborg, the third biggest city in Denmark. One of the neighbouring towns called Hirtshals is the biggest Aquarium in Northern Europe. And in another neighbouring town is the biggest summer amusement park in Denmark.

3) MS06 – Dana Football Cup 2022

ORGANISATION Dana Cup is run by a non-profit organisation, and the event is one of the world’s largest international youth soccer tournaments. Every year, in the last week of July, the soccer tournament brings together around 20.000 young people between 12-19 years old and their coaches. They come to Hjørring in the northern part of Denmark from 45 different nations, representing 1000 football teams. Dana Cup Week brings a great party in Hjørring and the atmosphere is amazing! It is the third Work Camp at this huge sports event, and it was a great experience in 2018 and 2019. They are very existed for another camp in 2022. WORK This Work Camp is held during the Dana Cup, and there are therefore plenty of work tasks that will assure the event will run smoothly Work Camp participants must help with the establishment of an event area, catering for 20.000 football players as well as practical tasks such as painting accommodation cabins and maintaining outdoor areas. During the two weeks of Work Camp, you will be assisting with general support and logistics before the tournament begins, maintenance of outdoor- and indoor areas, cleaning, kitchen assistance, event creations and reparation of dormitories in Dana Cup Town. The work is expected to be arranged in two shifts from 08:00-21:00.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Accommodation: Participants are sleeping in tents, and we will provide the linens, sleeping bags etc. Food: The host will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the volunteers will be eating with other volunteers and event participants. Vegetarian and vegan food will be provided. Bathroom Facilities: There are both baths and toilets available. Laundry facilities are available for free.

4) MS07 Smukfest 2022

ORGANISATION When August comes – so do more than 55.000 beautiful people, including 15.000 volunteers, ready for the most picturesque festival in Denmark: ‘Smukfest’. A celebration of life, love and togetherness, to the sound of music from the best international and Danish artists available. 20% of the profit from the festival will be donated to vulnerable and lonely people in Denmark. WORK The festival will need your help to set up the festival and take it down, therefore you will work before and after the festival. The festival lasts from August 3rd to 7th, where you will have some days off to enjoy it. But you will also be joining a team that talks to the festival guests about sustainability, and the importance of recycling. You will be part of a team of volunteers building the festival. It is manual work and it will be an advantage with knowledge of tools, but it is not required. Your tasks will change from day to day, where you might help set up a stage one day, build a bar the next or carry fences. A team leader will instruct you on what to do. All volunteers on the production team meet at 9.30 every day and work until 18:00. It is all about having fun and everybody has a duty to think positive thoughts and give and receive lots of hugs.
ACCOMMODATION AND FOOD Accommodation: Volunteers will have to bring their own tents, sleeping mats and sleeping bags. There will be toilets installed and bath facilities everywhere you go. Food: There are no kitchen facilities at the festival, but the festival provides 3 meals a day. Before and after the festival, all drinks – except beers – are free. During the festival, you will be given a bracelet by the festival. You can use this bracelet to get 3 meals and 3 drinks each day, in all food stands at the festival site and camping sites. Bathroom facilities: Bath and toilet facilities are available at the festival. It is possible to do your laundry for free, before and during the festival.
