Concordia “Social projects” is an international, independent aid organization founded in Moldova in 2004 with the purpose of dedicated to helping children, teenagers and families in need. Concordia helps quickly and directly on site. We go where the need is greatest. Concordia enables children to enjoy a happy and healthy childhood. We focus on building stable ties and strengthening families. Our activity spectrum in our project countries is individually geared to the local requirements of the people. Capacity building and a nonbureaucratic approach to our services are key factors. The single measures intertwine in the sense of sustainable aid. The central goal is always helping people to help themselves.
Our projects are based on four pillars: (1) A safe home because whoever grows up in a sheltered atmosphere gains trust and confidence, (2) Perspectives through education because without a profession, the struggle against poverty is almost hopeless, (3) Counseling and care because only consistent support ensures longterm success, (4) Direct help and emergency help because not every aid can be planned for years. Within our projects, following services are provided: psycho-social support, life skills training, job coaching and employability support, medical care and health education, leisure activities (sport, art), mobile teams for social support, support for mothers in detention, laundry, canteen, food, clothing and hygenic supplies, fire woods supplies, construction materials supplies. In Moldova, Concordia is present in 60 locations with a staff of aprox. 250 employees. The volunteer will work in the main centre in Chisinau.
The volunteer will have the possibility to work with our children and teenage beneficiaries. S/he can provide activities for children or teenagers or to participate in delivering lunches as home for the people in need. Volunteers will also be proposed to come up with educational activities, to teach children some internet and computers skills, teach English, help children in preparation of the homework, organize recreational activities, games, videos, excursions, exhibitions concerts, competitions and, if possible, to provide different workshops of art, of painting, of manual work and other creativeactivities and other different activities.
Volunteers will take part in the education of children, sports, volleyball, drawing, origami activities what will be guided by special educator. Volunteers will develop their interests and work on it together with children and youth from the Centre. They will get a teaching experience when helping children with their homework (eg. on English lessons or other) or when running thematic workshops. Moreover, while working with professional psychologists and pedagogues’ volunteers will have a possibility learn from their everyday work and to gain from their experience.
Volunteers will also obtain experience in organizing workshops and events for children and youth. The main role of the volunteers is to assist the employees in work and to give support to the children in everyday activities of the Centre.
